Prelude 09 will examine the evolving relationship between Art and Culture. Each day will feature symposiums with NYC’s leading performance practitioners in candid conversation exploring NYC’s complex cultural ecology. Given the greening of performance spaces, micro- and alternative financing, and renewed political engagement, how is performance affected by the culture at large?
Curated according to Digital, Poetic, Political, Bricolage, and Hybrid “tracks” that address the form and/or content of the previewed works – Prelude 09 places its roster of dynamic artists in conversation with each other at the close of each day. This is a unique opportunity to hear the artists informally discuss how they create their work.
