The first symposium of the festival started things off with a bang yesterday!
Moderated by Arwen Lowbridge, it featured notable panelists including:
Robert Zukerman, Program Director of Theater at NYSCA
Sheila Lewandowski, Executive Director and Co-founder of The Chocolate Factory
Justin Krebs, Co-Artistic Director of The Tank and a Director of Living Liberally
A lively audience began chiming in early with their thoughts, questions, opinions and frustrations about how artists think about citizenship, engage (or disengage) our local communities, what has been done in the past and how we can use digital media going forward to affect positive social change.
Additionally, Claudia La Rocco spoke with Soterios Johnson on WNYC’s Morning Edition yesterday on the topic of citizenship and wrote a fantastic blog post that wrestles with the question as well. You can find both the audio recording and her post here.
